Prior to Rangers running out 4-0 winners against Falkirk, the Ibrox players and staff will have been buoyed by the result across the city with Celtic.

Our Old Firm rival’s recent Scottish dominance has finally been broken as Ross County downed the hapless Parkhead side 2-0 to book a place in the League Cup quarter-final and break Celtic’s run of trebles.

But whilst the Ibrox legions have been celebrating the cup victory which takes them within three games of League Cup glory, Rangers fans have also been left astounded by the meltdown at Parkhead.

Celtic fans have appeared in the Celtic Park car park in their numbers to “protest” the position of club legend and current manager Neil Lennon after their recent humbling.

The spoiled masses have been filmed chanting obscenities, demanding change and overrunning barriers as the frustration reaches boiling point over at Celtic Park.

That’s despite the fact this side have won the last 11 trophies in a row and the basic fundamental cyclical nature of football.

The threat of Rangers finally reclaiming their rightful throne as Scotland’s premier club is terrifying them to the point they’re now attacking their own stadium and abusing their own staff.

It’s been a long, long time since Celtic felt their dominance under threat and Rangers fans are amazed at the meltdown which is very extreme even by our rivals’ very high standards:

Rangers’ victory over Falkirk presents them with a great opportunity to go on and lift that first silverware since the club’s demotion in 2012.

By the time the League Cup Final rolls around on the 28th February 2011, it’ll be almost 10 years exactly since we last lifted the trophy with the Gers facing St. Mirren in Paisley in this year’s Quarter Final.
