Rangers fans have been getting excited about the prospect of Giovanni van Bronckhorst becoming their new manager and have adopted a Dutch anthem in tribute to him.

Gio, 46, might not yet be through the door in Glasgow but that hasn’t stopped Rangers fans already bouncing to the beat of the Netherlands.

The Gers support are adopting Snollebollekes track Links Rechts in homage to van Bronckhorst as reports suggest they should be getting ready to welcome him to Ibrox.

Fans might recognise it already with the track having been played at Ibrox as the club’s new goal song, almost as if the arrival of Dutchman Gio was meant to be.

It’s even on the official Rangers playlist on Spotify.

The song went viral this summer at Euro 2020 due to Dutch fans doing a distinctive left-to-right-hop dance to the tune.

Rangers fans – having already adopted the song at Ibrox – are now unleashing the anthem in homage to Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the Gers prepare for a Dutch revolution.

Fans have even come up with some lyrics for the track as they anticipate a bounce inside Ibrox to come if Gio is announced as the club’s new manager.

Rangers are reportedly closing in Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager with excitement building regarding a potential announcement sooner rather than later.

The ex-Ibrox midfielder played with the Gers between 1998 and 2001, before going on to carve out a career with Arsenal, Barcelona, Feyenoord and the Dutch national team.

Gio also won five trophies in four years as Feyenoord boss – including their first title in 18 years – before going to on to have a spell in China.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst-inspired Links Rechts is not the first anthem to make it big within the Rangers support this season either after Fashion Sakala’s chant took over Copenhagen.
