Champion British boxer, ex-footballer and passionate Rangers fan Curtis Woodhouse believes the Ibrox club are in the same “bracket” as Premier League Liverpool and Manchester United.

Responding to a fan on Twitter in the aftermath of Rangers’ 4-3 win over Antwerp, Woodhouse also rejected the notion that Everton are a bigger club than the Glasgow giants.

This came after Woodhouse had already tweeted claiming that Rangers were a “monster of a football club” and that they would compete at the “top end” if they were in the Premier League.

It’s an age-old argument and one which we’ve heard plenty of times before but it’s a difficult thing to gauge given the Ibrox club play in Scotland.

However, it cannot be argued that Rangers have one of the biggest and most passionate supports in global football and are unique club with a glowing and storied history.

Manchester United are widely regarded as the most supported club in the world whilst Liverpool are probably the next biggest side down south.

There’s no doubt here that Rangers are certainly capable of putting up a fight with these guys but perhaps it’s an endless argument that we’ll have until the end of time.

Curtis Woodhouse MBE, 40, has had a fascinating career in sport, starting his career at Sheffield United, earning a £1m transfer to Birmingham at 21 and playing four times for the England U21s.

In his mid-20s Woodhouse opted to change sporting career to become a boxer, eventually becoming the British light-welterweight champion with his fight record standing at 22 wins out of 29, with 13 knock-outs.

That match against Antwerp certainly captured the imagination of anyone watching and here’s how we rated the Ibrox club’s stars in the eventual 4-3 victory.
