Club Brugge now value Andreas Skov Olsen at nearly £20 million just over a year after Rangers failed with a bid to bring the Denmark international to Ibrox.
With Club Brugge falling some way short of their usual high standards – a run to the knockout stages of the Champions League papering over those domestic cracks – Andreas Skov Olsen’s form has at least given the suffering supporters something to smile about.
In his first full season at the Belgian giants, the former Bologna forward has scored nine goals and set up seven more. Comparisons with some of Europe’s very best wingers have been flooding in too; Skov Olsen’s searing pace and his surgeon’s scalpel of a left-boot earning him plenty of admirers.

“He is a top player,” Danish reporter Klaus Egelund tells Het Nieuwsblad.
“He is an Eden Hazard type. But, since he’s left-footed and plays on the right, you could better compare him to (Arjen) Robben or (Mohamed) Salah.
“Like them, he is a fast player who likes to come inside and then shoot at goal with great precision. That is his great strength.”
Rangers could have signed Andreas Skov Olsen
Given that Rangers have arguably not had a genuinely high-quality right-winger since Daniel Candeias left four years ago – neither Fashion Sakala, Scott Wright nor Rabbi Matondo really making the position their own – Skov Olsen still feels very much like ‘one that got away’.
“While I’m sure Beale will bring in an additional striker, there are other areas he has to strengthen. The right-wing position has been an issue since Daniel Candeias left,” Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd tells The Sun.
“It has been a blind spot for the club, and one that must be urgently sorted out.”
Rangers, according to Italian publication Il Resto del Carlino, failed with a £5 million bid for Skov Olsen when he was struggling for game time in Serie A.
Just 16 months later, Skov Olsen’s market value has soared to somewhere close to £20 million (Tipsbladet).
Any hopes Rangers may have harboured of renewing their interest in a man who The Athletic say has been on their radar for quite some time, then, can be parked at the door.
