Rangers are reportedly one of many clubs interested in signing Finland and Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara.

The Daily Mail reported on Saturday that Rangers are one of over seven clubs looking at the 22-year old.

Kamara began his career at Southend United before moving to English giants Arsenal in 2012. He made his debut for the club in 2015 but after loan spells back at Southend and with Colchester United he was released by the club.

The midfielder then joined Dundee in 2017 where his performances have been gathering much attention. Even if the Dees sit bottom of the league.

International pedigree

The midfielder of Sierra Leonean descent is a full international with Finland. He was born in the Scandinavian country and continues to be a part of their squads. He has made five caps in total, the most recent coming in a 20-minute cameo in Finland’s 1-0 victory against Estonia on Friday. Kamara could also be involved tonight against Greece.

Being involved at international level adds extra experience to his game. International football is a very high level no matter what country you play for.

Lots of competition

Rangers face two challenges if they move for Kamara. Firstly, he is also reportedly being tracked by Sunderland, Derby County, Wolves and Celtic amongst many others. There looks to be competition for his signature. His contract is up at the end of the season and a move wouldn’t cost anything but such diverse interest means Dundee may just cash in on him in January.

Secondly, Rangers have plenty of options in midfield already. In Kamara’s role, he’d be up against Ryan Jack, Lassana Coulibaly, Ross McCrorie and Greg Docherty. That’s a lot of names.

This move might hinge on whether a permanent deal for Lassana Coulibaly can be struck.

But if he is still available at the end of the season, Rangers could do a lot worse than the midfielder.
