Slavia Prague have sent Rangers a warning after pulling off a stunning comeback in the Czech First League on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers will meet Slavia in the Europa League Last 16 next month after thrasing Royal Antwerp 9-5 on aggregate in the Round of 32.

In some respects, it looks to be a relatively kind draw, considering the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan, Roma and Tottenham were all potential opponents.

However, Slavia knocked out Premier League high-flyers Leicester City to get to the Last 16 and they are flying in domestic competition.

The Gers and the Czech capital outfit are both still unbeaten in their respective leagues this season, holding substantial leads at the top of the table.

Rangers had the weekend off, allowing them to recover from their European exploits, but Slavia were straight back into domestic action with a trip to third-placed Slovácko.

The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute and although the league leaders equalised through a 36th-minute Nicolae Stanciu penalty, Slovácko were back in front by half-time, with Michal Kadlec netting in injury time.

Slavia’s backs were up against the wall and their unbeaten record was at risk as the score remained 2-1 with less than 20 minutes to play.

Yet, in an impressive showing of character, they managed to turn things around, with Stanciu netting his second in the 72nd minute and Ondrej Lingr completing the turnaround nine minutes from time.

The 3-2 victory extends their lead over fierce rivals Sparta Prague, who have a game in hand, to eleven points, and their stats for the season stand at 17 wins, four draws and zero defeats from 21 matches.

If Rangers are to progress to the quarter-finals, they will need to keep a 19-year-old starlet with a £45m release clause quiet.
