Rangers will have a free weekend in the immediate aftermath of their Europa League second leg with Royal Antwerp after a date was confirmed for the rearranged Scottish Premiership fixture with Livingston.

The Gers were set to face off against Livi at the Tony Macaroni on the 28th of February but will now play the Lions just three days later on the 3rd of March at 6pm.

This is because Livi are set to play St. Johnstone in the Betfred Cup Final over that weekend meaning the Gers now have fve full days off after the Antwerp tie.

Rangers’ first leg fixture with Antwerp is scheduled to take place on the 18th of February with a Scottish Cup fourth round tie – despite the competition’s third round currently postponed due to Covid-19 – scheduled to be played on the 21st.

With the Ibrox return v Antwerp set to take place on the 25th and with Rangers now confident they will have almost an entire week off before the Livingston tie, the Gers can leave it all on the pitch in Europe.

This is the latest boost for Rangers regarding the tie as they look to make it into the last 16 of European competition for the second season on the bounce.

Rangers are also helped by their league form this season in that the club can now put a greater emphasis on Europe with the club having a 23-point lead in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers will have a quiet confidence that they can see off the Belgian side, who are going through a period of considerable upheaval.

Rangers were even namechecked by their new manager as he pleaded with the board to invest in the playing squad this January.
