Rangers are interested in Galatasaray player Olimpiu Morutan ahead of the January transfer window, according to Fotomac.
The Gers have been tight-lipped about their plans for the window, with Gio van Bronckhorst vowing during a press conference on Friday not to speak about possible targets.
It is clear that contingency plans are in place should big offers come in for key players, though, and based on comments made following the manager’s appointment, there could be some funds there to help him put his own stamp on the squad regardless.
Rangers interested in Galatasaray player
Turkish outlet Fotomac claims that the Gers are keen on Morutan, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Galatasaray and Romania, making him an international teammate of Ianis Hagi.
GS signed him from Romanian club FCSB for an initial fee of around £3m in August but he hasn’t managed to establish himself yet in Istanbul.

He has three goals and two assists to his name so far across all competitions but has started just under half of his club’s Super Lig matches.
The report describes Rangers as a ‘serious suitor’ for Morutan.
It’s claimed that the Light Blues are preparing for life after Ianis Hagi and that they have already conducted ‘price research’ on the 22-year-old.
The plan would be to bring him in on loan in January with an option to buy in the summer.
Morutan a good fit for Gers?
Morutan’s stats so far this season aren’t overly impressive but he was outstanding at FCSB across 2020/21, scoring eight goals and bagging 15 assists despite missing a number of matches through injury and illness.
“Morutan is an extremely talented player who is very similar to Lionel Messi, very technical and quick,” said his agent Florin Vulturar back in April [Sempre Inter].
That’s high praise and those qualities would make him popular at Ibrox. However, agents looking to land big transfer fees for their clients aren’t exactly the most impartial of sources.
Rangers are relatively well-stocked in terms of attack-minded players right now, but a loan swoop for Morutan would be a low-risk move and would add to the already healthy competition for places within the squad.
Meanwhile, a former Rangers player has been named manager of a huge Russian club.
