Rangers duo Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala are both one booking away from suspension heading into tonight’s clash with Borussia Dortmund.
The Rangers squad looks in pretty good shape ahead of the second leg of the Europa League knockout round playoff against the German giants, now that Leon Balogun is back from injury.
Gio van Bronckhorst’s men are favourites to progress to the Last 16, after their sensational 4-2 first-leg win in Dortmund last week.
It will no doubt be a hard-fought encounter under the lights at Ibrox, but Morelos and Sakala will have to tread carefully.
The excitement of progression to the Last 16 would quickly be tempered for the two Gers attackers if they were to be ruled out of the first leg through suspension.
Only three cautions are required to trigger a one-match ban and Morelos and Sakala both picked up two during the group stages.
With yellow card tallies not wiped until after the quarter-finals [UEFA], they are both in a precarious position.
Sakala is unlikely to start the second leg, as van Bronckhorst has used him much more regularly as a substitute.
However, Morelos will undoubtedly lead the line after his outstanding individual display in the first leg, in which he scored one goal and played a major role in another.
The 25-year-old was booked in the first half at Dundee United on Sunday after letting his frustration show, but it’s important he keeps his cool this time around.
