Rangers duo named in Kris Boyd's Team of the Week

Despite stumbling to a 2-1 win over Motherwell this weekend, a Rangers duo has been named in Kris Boyd’s Ladbrokes Premiership Team of the Week.

Swedish international Filip Helander and his Croatian namesake are the only representatives from Rangers after a weekend were Steven Gerrard’s side ground out a result.

For all the groans from the Ibrox side’s performance, yet again we managed to eke out a win and earn three points this season.

Filip Helander got the eventual winner for Rangers from a James Tavernier corner as Ibrox breathed a sigh of relief 10 minutes from time.

The big Swede followed on from a superb performance in Porto and you get the feeling that if he can get to grips with life in Scotland, he could be a major player for Rangers.

The big defender earned his place through that late header alongside a vital three points for Rangers.

Borna Barisic – a player who has been reinvented this season – continued his fine form with yet another solid display on the left-hand side.

He is turning into one of our most consistent performers. The left-back berth is undeniably his and the Croatian international is emerging as the best option in the position in the Premiership.

Boyd’s inclusion of the Rangers duo shows just how much he values their contribution at Ibrox. It’s not the first time the former Gers forward has been in the press this week either.

Boyd was made an honorary fellow of Ayrshire College [Ayrshire College] for his contribution to football and the community.
