Banned duo Jordan Jones and George Edmundson may have featured as Rangers reportedly took on Hibernian in a bounce match on Tuesday afternoon [Glasgow Live].

The two players were initially suspended by the club and then handed seven-match bans by the SFA following a breach of regulations in early November [STV].

At the time, some fans called for their contracts to be cancelled. However, after the duo emerged from their isolation periods, Steven Gerrard threw his support behind them.

The Gers boss accepted their respective apologies and claimed that he needed them in his squad going forward [RangersTV].

Since then, both Jones and Edmundson have returned to full training and would have been available to face Hibernian, so it’s likely that both players were given game time.

No details were released by either club regarding the fixture, but Hibs boss Jack Ross recently confirmed that his side would be in action on Tuesday when discussing Lewis Stevenson’s return from injury [Glasgow Live].

Given that the bounce match reportedly took place just two days after the League Cup tie against Falkirk and two days out from a Europa League group stage clash against Standard Liege, it’s unlikely that any key first-team players featured.

Therefore, if Jones and Edmundson did play, they would likely have been sharing the pitch with Academy players who aren’t part of the extended Europa League squad.

Northern Ireland international Jones has made four appearances so far this season while English centre-back Edmundson has made just two.

UPDATE: The unofficial Rangers Youth Updates Twitter account has since reported that the game finished 4-4 with Jones getting on the scoresheet.
