Rangers pair John Souttar and Ryan Jack are called up to the Scotland national team as the country gets news about hosting Euro 2028.

The Rangers duo are regular features of Steve Clarke’s Scotland team and the two will hope to add to their caps for the national side.

Both players have however been out of the Rangers reckoning as of late with John Souttar dropping to the bench in the place of Ben Davies.

Ahead of the Europa League clash with AEL Limassol, interim Rangers manager Steven Davis also confirmed that Gers midfielder Ryan Jack did not travel for the match.

The fact that the Rangers star has been called up for Scotland duties suggests that he is set to return from injury sooner rather than later.

Rangers duo make Scotland national team

Scotland are set to face off in tough ties against Spain and France in the October international break with the trip to Spain in particular a match of sizeable importance.

If Scotland can get a result, or other results go their way, then the nation will qualify for Euro 2024 and Steve Clarke will have achieved back-to-back European Championship qualifications.

Scotland have won their opening five European Championship qualifiers but their run of fine form was ended in a commemorative friendly defeat to England during the last international period.

The Scotland national team also defeated Spain 2-0 at Hampden and Rangers pair John Souttar and Ryan Jack will hope to be involved in the match.

The clash with France is set to be a friendly clash in Paris, 16 years on from when James McFadden famously crashed in the winner in a 1-0 victory at the Parc des Princes.

As Rangers pair John Souttar and Ryan Jack make the Scotland squad, there is also news that the nation looks set to host Euro 2028 alongside the rest of the UK and Ireland.

With the Euros looking to expand, all five countries in the region look set to be granted permission to host the 2028 tournament after Turkey withdrew their bid.
