Two key Rangers players were absent from training on Friday amid injury concerns heading into Sunday’s Premiership clash with Kilmarnock.
Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack only played substitute roles in Thursday night’s 1-0 Europa League win over Lech Poznan, but Steven Gerrard confirmed on Friday morning that both players had picked up knocks.
“Alfredo took a kick and also Ryan Jack, we will take a look this morning but nothing too serious hopefully,” Gerrard told Rangers TV.
“We have to move on very quickly and focus on a big game at Rugby Park, we will go there and give it our best.”
The manager didn’t seem overly concerned during the press conference, but there are some doubts about whether or not the duo will be fully fit to face Killie, especially given that they didn’t take part in Friday training.
Neither Morelos nor Jack can be spotted in the training gallery or the video clip uploaded by the club in the evening.
The footage shows the majority of the players who started the win over Lech Poznan working through in a very light session, with the likes of Kemar Roofe and Ryan Kent even appearing to take part in trainers.
Meanwhile, the rest of the squad took on higher intensity work including skills games.
In general, Rangers are in a good place regarding injuries, but Gerrard will be hoping both Morelos and Jack can take part in Saturday’s session.
If they don’t, they may at least miss out on the starting XI at Rugby Park on Sunday.
