Rangers have dropped their reported transfer interest in January loan signing and Hibs striker Florian Kamberi, according to the 4TH Official.

The Swiss/Albanian forward has been spotted back in Switzerland ahead of Hibs’ opening day fixture against Livingston this weekend with the striker having no future in Edinburgh.

Despite describing Rangers as a “dream” move and impressing in short spells before the coronavirus shutdown, the report claims Rangers will not be returning for the player.

The decision to move for Kamberi will also not be affected by Lille’s interest in Alfredo Morelos, for whom Rangers are said to be holding out close to £18m [FootMercato].

This is especially interesting when you consider those reports at the start of the summer which valued Kamberi at £150k.

According to T4O, a source close to Rangers confirmed that the club don’t view him as a first-team player and it is likely he will move away from Scotland in the coming weeks.

“There are no negotiations, unfortunately,” said the quoted source.

“Rangers don’t think he did well enough for a contract. He will be moving away from Scotland in the next few weeks if everything goes to plan.

”Probably fairer to say that Rangers don’t see him as a starter and at his age, he needs to play every week. He will get offered more money elsewhere.”

The report also claims “it does seem” Rangers are more interested in signing Kemar Roofe from Anderlecht instead.

Rangers have been routinely linked to the former Leeds United forward with reports in Belgium suggesting the Ibrox club remain interested.
