Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson has been placed at the centre of potential new deals for Ibrox trio Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Ryan Jack as their contracts tick down at the club.

The three players are amongst the most influential in the Ibrox squad but Rangers face the real prospect of losing them for nothing come the end of the season.

All three players are in the final year of their contracts and as a result will be free to discuss terms with other clubs come January.

This lack of clarity has led some Rangers fans – particularly in the case of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent – to suggest that the insecure situation is having a direct impact on their form.

Rangers have yet to see anything like the best football from either player, even if manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has previously claimed he doesn’t believe the contract situation is having an impact.

Regarding Ryan Jack, Rangers fans have barely see the midfielder for the last two seasons and after picking up his 15th knock since joining the club in 2017 plenty are questioning if the club should renew the midfielder’s contract.

Ross Wilson in charge of Rangers contract negotiations

Speaking to the media, Rangers boss van Bronckhorst was once again facing questions on the contract situation at the club and looked to move the responsibility onto Ross Wilson, who is clearly the one responsibile for the negotiations.

But whilst van Bronckhorst would rather the situation was settled – even though he apparently believes it isn’t having an impact – the Dutchman also claimed Rangers and namely Ross Wilson remain in negotiations with all three.

“As a manager, yes [I want a resolution to the situation],” said van Bronckhorst [Sky Sports].

“Ideally, of course. But it’s up to the players and it’s up to the club. Ross is busy negotiating and in talking. At the moment that is the status.”

Rangers trio Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos aren’t the only Ibrox stars out of contract this summer either.

Swedish international defender and high-earning crock Filip Helander is also out contract, whilst Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis will also be coming to the end of their summer extensions.

Meanwhile, Rangers reportedly came close to signing a striking sensation from last season who is currently plying his trade in Eastern Europe.
