Rangers directly affected by major shake-up to festive broadcasting plans

Rangers’ Boxing Day clash with Hibs is set to be screened live on Sky One in a major shake-up to festive broadcasting plans [Glasgow Times].

The Gers are set to host the Hibees in a crunch Boxing Day bash which was originally scheduled to be screened only on Sky Sports Football.

But now supporters who have access to Sky One but not Sky Sports will be able to view the match, thus discouraging any supporters mixing for the game.

Rangers fans who have virtual season tickets will not be impacted by the move with the Gers offering a broadcast of the match through RangersTV.

Celtic’s 3pm clash with Hamilton Accies will also be screened live on Sky One as the broadcaster opens up the matches to those who don’t have a Sky Sports subscription.

The positive move comes amid the Covid-19 pandemic and follows similar undertakings during the Playoffs for Euro 2020.

Scotland’s high-profile match against Serbia was screened for free by the broadcaster after high-profile pleas from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

This was to once again discourage supporters from mixing during the pandemic and to keep people safe as Covid-19 continues to be prevalent in our communities.

Rangers host Hibs this coming Saturday (Boxing Day) but have a tough match against St. Johnstone in Perth to contend with on Wednesday night first.

Here’s how we fancy the Gers to line-up in Perth as they look to make it twelve straight wins in the Scottish Premiership.
