Ross County manager Derek Adams is set for showdown talks with the Staggies hierarchy ahead of their trip to Rangers.
The controversial Scottish Premiership manager is just off the back of a 5-0 humbling at the hands of Motherwell which has cast doubts over his position at the club.
Now, Derek Adams himself has suggested that his short-lived stint at Ross County may well be coming to an end after only eleven games in charge.
Having joined the club following the exit of Malky Mackay in November, the manager is in his third spell in charge of the Dingwall club.
Derek Adams to discuss Ross County future
Speaking to BBC Sport after the hammering at the hands of Motherwell, Derek Adams claims he is the one who will decide his future as the club’s manager.
The Ross County boss then went on to claim that there are set to be discussions with the club’s hierarchy this week with the club’s next game against Rangers on Valentine’s Day (14/02).
“Listen this will always be my choice (to remain as manager),” said Adams.
“From my point of view, I’ve been here for eleven games, I’ve said what I’ve said before and I’ll decide when that is the right opportunity.
When asked if he might move on from the role, Adams said: “Listen I’ll have a conversation with the chairman and the CEO and go from there.
“From my point of view I’ve tried to come in and help the situation. It’s a difficult situation the football club is in, I said that many weeks ago.
“I was opened eyed, I was honest, I looked at it and all I can say is I’m not surprised, and that’s difficult for me to say because Ross County Football Club is a fabulous football club but at this moment in time it’s in a really difficult circumstance.”
Rangers eyes on Scottish Premiership prize
Rangers will play their outstanding game in hand over the rest of the league against Ross County next week and could potentially go top of the Scottish Premiership with a win.
As things stand, Rangers and Celtic are joint top of the Premiership table with Celtic’s goal difference one better off than the Ibrox side.
With the Parkhead club to face Hibernian later this evening, Rangers will go into the midweek clash with Ross County next week knowing they will have the chance of going top should Celtic get any result in Edinburgh.
Rangers are coming off the back of an important 2-1 win over Aberdeen and are very much in the title hunt whilst Ross County are in a substantially different position.
Derek Adams’s side are 11th in the Premiership table six points off Livingston at the bottom and very much in a relegation dogfight this season.
Since the ex-Morecambe manager has come into the club, Ross County have managed three draws and two wins in Adams’s 11 games in charge.
Before welcoming Ross County on Valentine’s Day, Rangers will face Ayr United in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox this weekend.
