Rangers fans are certainly enjoying the imminent arrival of their first league title in a decade as 55 beckons and are piling on the agony over their Celtic supporting rivals.

The Parkhead club have completely crumbled under the weight of Rangers’ intense form this season and are now facing up to the reality of the Ibrox club reclaiming the League trophy.

The worst could yet be to come – should both sides win this weekend Rangers can win the title at Parkhead – but it’s not just the fans who’re getting tied in knots by Gers supporters.

Celtic defender Shane Duffy – signed in the summer as a good Celtic man who’d provide Premier League power and solidity to a rocky backline with the club he loves – has been one of the most hilarious subplots to the Celtic comedy this season.

It’s difficult to choose which is funnier – Duffy’s calamitous defending or the fact Celtic reportedly paid £2m and £25k per week on wages to bring him to Parkhead for the season [Sky Sports].

Rangers fans have been relentless and thanked the big Irishman for his contribution to 55 as a nightmare season is topped off by Gers supporters flying a banner with his name on it outside Parkhead.

“Thanks for the memories” indeed, Shane – it’s been some laugh.

But if goading the force which was supposed to hold Rangers back this season wasn’t enough, spare a thought for his £7m defensive partner Chris Jullien.

The ex-Toulouse defender has spent much of the season sidelined and is currently working his way back from a decidedly nasty knee injury sustained off the Parkhead post against Dundee United.

If coming along on the Dubai trip whilst in crutches and catching Covid-19, having 13 players and three staff members isolate as a result or potentially passing it on to a teammate wasn’t enough, he’s only gone and liked the fact Steven Gerrard was named Manager of the Month on Instagram.

The Frenchman was screenshotted liking the fact Stevie G was named the SPFL’s Official Manager of the Month and has barely been able to live it down since.

And to think – the ribbons aren’t even adorning the Scottish Premiership yet – this is just the start.

For some terrified Celtic fans, it’s time to get off, with their fans taking down the flag of war not long after hanging it up out of fear of Rangers clinching the title at Parkhead.
