Rangers are reportedly interested in signing £9m rated Trabzonspor and Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban, according to reports in Turkey.
Fotospor is claiming that the Ibrox side are considering the striker as a replacement for Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos.
A former Leeds United player, the report claims the Italy born Ghana international will command close to £10m for his services.
Ekuban, 25, never settled at Leeds United and the Elland Road club sold the striker to Trabzonspor after an initial loan deal in 2018.
The former Chievo Verona striker could only manage two goals in 21 games for Leeds United before moving on to the Turkish club.
Since he has been with Trabzonspor Ebukan has scored 16 goals in 60 games [Transfermarkt] but his goalscoring record isn’t an exact reflection of his contribution on the pitch.
A pacey, powerful, commanding forward, you can see why some might draw parallels with Rangers’ resident Colombian firebrand.
However, should Rangers get close to the £20m the club claim to value Morelos at come this summer, splashing £9m on a striker with such a low goalscoring rate might raise a few eyebrows in Govan.
Alfredo Morelos, 23, has been at Rangers since the summer of 2017, scoring 77 goals and laying on 29 assists in 135 appearances for the Ibrox club [Transfermarkt].
