Rangers star Connor Goldson has taken aim at the tactics of Hearts striker Steven MacLean following the Ibrox side’s 3-0 win over the Jambos on Sunday.
Rangers defeated the Edinburgh side in the Betfred Cup Semi-Final to earn their place at Hampden and a glamour final against Old Firm rivals Celtic.
But Connor Goldson has spoken out against the rough-and-tumble tactics of the Hearts striker.

“Against Hearts I took a couple of sore ones and his [MacLean’s] gameplan was obviously to try to rough us up and be a bit aggressive,” said Goldson [Evening Times].
“But there’s a difference between being aggressive and going over the top and it showed with him getting taken off so early.
“If he hadn’t already been on a yellow he’d have been booked for his next foul but the referee said he didn’t want to ruin a semi-final by sending him off for something so silly.
“He caught me inside a minute but it’s the same every week. The same happened at Ross County where the boy did the exact same thing.”
It’s not the only thing the big defender has had to say about the over-physical tactics of some teams in Scotland.
Less than a minute into Sunday’s match Maclean was barging Goldson off the ball and clearly should’ve been punished for it.
Goldson also criticised referees for contributing to the poor standard of Scottish football [Evening Times] by allowing bad tackles to go unpunished and letting teams disrupt the flow of games with persistent fouling.
It’s hard to argue against anything Goldson has to say here and he had the last laugh on Sunday with Rangers running out 3-0 winners at Hampden.
