Rangers have confirmed Patrick Stewart as their new chief executive.
The name emerged in recent days as the former Manchester United man emerged as the one to finally take over from James Bisgrove who headed for Saudi Arabia in May.
Stewart worked for the Premier League giants for 14 years in various positions but departed Old Trafford following the buyout from Sir Jim Rattclife, with the billionaire personally thanking the incoming Rangers CEO ‘for his service’.
He had a short spell as Man Utd’s interim CEO earlier this year as the club navigated the INEOS takeover and was previously general counsel and company secretary.
The 50-year-old, Aberdeen born, also held a position at the Court of Arbitration for Sport since 2019 and is one of 14 arbitrators who deal with football-specific issues across the globe.

Rangers confirm Patrick Stewart as CEO
The news was confirmed by the club today and acting chairman John Gilligan explained the appointment.
He also teased when their would be news on a new chairperson amid ‘several excellent candidates’.
Gilligan told the Rangers website: “On behalf of the board, I’m delighted to welcome Patrick to the club as CEO.
“Patrick comes with an excellent reputation and background, bringing extensive experience of operating at senior levels during his 20-plus years in football.
“The board continues in discussions with several excellent candidates for the role of Chairperson and expect to make an announcement of an appointment in the coming weeks.”
Malcolm Offord Rangers chairman frontrunner
Despite the mention of several candidates, Malcolm Offord has been namechecked as the man expected to take over as chair.
The Scottish Sun are claiming that Offord is currently the ‘leading contender’ to replace John Bennett at Ibrox.
Malcolm Offord is a current member of the House of Lords and carries the title of Lord Offord of Garvel.
Offord was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department of Business and Trade from April 2023 to July 2024.
The 60-year-old’s links to the City of London, where he had a 25 year career, are believed to be advantageous whilst Offord is a regent of Edinburgh University, from where he graduated in 1987, and a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
