The Rangers Charity Foundation has launched a new Fit Bears mobile app aimed at Rangers fans as the club look to “encourage physical activity amongst supporters”.
The new app, which was released this week, enables Rangers supporters to compete against friends and other bluenoses in a fitness league with special prizes.
Developed by developers at the University of Salford, Rangers launch the app after earlier success with a similar project at Salford Red Devils Rugby League club.
The app records users as they walk and run and collates the data whilst also providing up-to-date news of everything which is happening at Ibrox.
Rangers are the first football club in the country to launch the app and it’s all about encouraging supporters to look after themselves through some healthy competition.
To celebrate the launch of the Fit Bears app, the club are also offering those who top the fitness league for December and January a signed Rangers First Team shirt.
The club launched the app with the help of Blues brothers Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, with the Charity foundation particularly excited about the move.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to pilot the first-ever Fan Fit app in Scotland, and we hope that Rangers fans enjoy using ‘Fit Bears’ with their family and friends,” said Rangers Charity Foundation Director, Connal Cochrane [Rangers Charity Foundation].

“The Foundation is dedicated to using the power of football for good and promoting healthy lifestyles amongst its supporters and the wider public – something which is reflected in our many community programmes, which are delivered to children and adults throughout Glasgow.
“We know that the University of Salford shares this ethos and we look forward to supporting them in their aim to get as many football fans moving as possible!”
The Fit Bears app is completely free and available on Android HERE and IOS HERE.
