Due to the passing of Fernando Ricksen, Wednesday was a very emotional day for all involved with Rangers.
The former Gers star and Holland international sadly passed away aged 43 after a six-year battle with motor neurone disease.

Tributes poured in not just from the club and its support base, but from across Scottish and world football. Ricksen left a lasting impression on many, for his exploits on the field and his brave battle off it.
At Ibrox, the flags flew at half-mast, while Feyenoord staff visited the stadium to pay tribute at the gates during the afternoon.

Both the women’s and Rangers youth sides in action yesterday paid their respects with minutes of silence.
Then, at 10:30 pm, the club took a further symbolic step on social media.

The Rangers crest has been replaced by a large white number two, the shirt number worn by Ricksen during his time at the club, surrounded by a blue background. The club’s Instagram and Facebook accounts have also been changed.
It’s a move that has been commended by fans, many of whom have followed suit.
Here’s a selection of reactions to the tribute:

Rangers fans will have a chance to bid farewell to their hero on Thursday evening as the club return to Europa League action at Ibrox.
Hopefully, the players will deliver a fittingly strong performance on the pitch, one that Fernando himself would have been proud to be a part of.
