Rangers’ Champions League campaign hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations but the club’s “worst-ever” blushes could yet be spared by Viktoria Plzen.
The Gers are currently the worst performing team at the tournament but only one goal behind them is the Czech club who have struggled in potentially an even harder group than the Gers.

Rangers were always going to be up against it with Ajax, Napoli and Liverpool in Group A but the level of performance across the club’s five matches so far has been appalling.
In total, Rangers have conceded 19 goals across five matches, scoring only once and losing every single game, giving the club a goal difference of -18.
It’s a record which is threatening to see Rangers branded the worst team in the competition’s history as they aim to make things up to their fans when Ajax come to town next week.
But across Europe Viktoria Plzen are also toiling with the Czechs losing all five of their matches, scoring three goals and conceding 20, meaning they have a goal difference of -17.
The club’s latest result was a 4-0 humbling at the hands of Inter Milan with Romeu Lukaku scoring after Henrikh Mkhitarayan had netted first and Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko scored a deadly double.
Rangers hoping for Viktoria Plzen Champions League horror show
Rangers host the Dutch champions in their final game and whilst Viktoria Plzen welcome Barcelona and if neither team can muster a point then it’ll come down to the severity of the defeat.
It is quite remarkable that Rangers have gone from Europa League Finalists last season to praying that the club don’t wind up the Champions League’s worst ever team but here we are.
It’s a title that no-one at Rangers wants and USA international Malik Tillman has set his sights on putting things right next week.
“We want to win every game and go into every game aiming to do that,” said Tillman.
“Especially at home, we want to bring the joy back to our fans and for us as well and get a positive result.
“No way (do we want that record). Everybody is going to be motivated to finally get a win in the Champions League. It’s a massive game for us again and a big challenge. We’’re going to look forward to it and try to win it.”
As Rangers hope for Viktoria Plzen to slip up, the club’s fans are quite right to question the mentality of the club’s management for this Champions League campaign.
