Rangers Celtic inconsistencies at the fore after woeful refereeing decision

As Celtic romped to a 4-1 victory against 10-man Hamilton, the Accies fans were probably left wondering what might have been after some woeful refereeing.

Weathering all that Celtic were throwing at them and creating the better chances, Hamilton were good for their 1-0 lead and looked like adding to it.

But following a red card for Jamie Hamilton, things were destined to fall apart of the New Douglas Park club.

However, Hamilton can count themselves unlucky, and not just because they held off for the majority of the second half.

Celtic, riding their luck in front of goal, also rode their luck when it came to the referee’s book.

Somehow, Leigh Griffiths escaped a red card for deliberately stamping on an Accies player when the referee clearly saw the offence. He was given a yellow.

Even the most ardent Celtic fan will admit it was a very dubious decision but one which, rather incredibly, was lauded by the Celtic-centric BT Sport commentary team.

Well, apart from Rangers legend Ally McCoist [BT Sport].

Griffiths was then the player who turned Jamie Hamilton in the challenge which earned the defender a deserved red card.

But Griffiths shouldn’t have been on the pitch to do so.

If that was Alfredo Morelos, he wouldn’t be on the pitch long enough for the commentary team to berate him, let alone protect him. That’s not conspiracy or claptrap, this is a bare fact.

And it’s not like there aren’t similar incidents to compare between the two either.

You’ve just got to look at the red card Morelos received last season in the 4-2 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

If this one was a justified red card, then why hasn’t Nick Walsh flashed a red at Griffiths for a clearer incident against Hamilton?
