As Rangers boss Steven Gerrard rails against the disciplinary process in Scotland, the club and the fans mustn’t lose sight of the bigger task at hand.
Whilst its important Rangers do all they can to help modernise the Scottish game for the good of everyone, there’s a title to be won this season.
Retrospective action and the seemingly lop-sided disciplinary process clearly affects Rangers on the pitch but there’s no time for feeling sorry for ourselves in these final 10 games of the season.
The last two weeks have been dominated by conversations around retrospective bans, referees and the SFA, and the season’s been side-tracked by nonsense narratives and fruitless arguments.
Rangers still need to find a way to win without these guys because whilst soundbites might appease some fans or even get under the skin of our rivals right now, a league trophy win is the best way to scratch the itch of both a little more permanently.
The usual suspects have barked back at Gerrard and it’s for that reason that Rangers and the club have avoided going for the jugular on this issue.
Getting wound up helps no one at Ibrox and – as we’ve seen in the rival fan reaction to Gerrard’s comments – gives the saltiest amongst them something to cry over.
At a time when the club sits neatly perched over a legendary 55th club title – our first in 10 years – this can at times feel like a welcome distraction for our rivals and a very unwelcome one for us.
Let them moan about referees – or even the club’s standpoint on the system – but don’t forget that getting our hands on a title would hurt them more than any public display of defiance ever would.

Not forgetting that if Rangers really want to inspire change in Scotland, it’ll be considerably easier with the nation’s footballing Crown adorning their head.
Here’s what Rangers boss Steven Gerrard had to say on the issue of re-refereeing matches as he comes to terms with having two strikers out due to the retrospective bans.
