Rangers braced for £7m James Tavernier bid, says journalist

James Tavernier is set to be the subject of multi-million pound transfer interest – at least according to normally reliable journalist Bill Young of Rocksport.
The radio DJ tweeted the news this afternoon. He says a good source of his down south believes a mystery club are preparing a £7m offer.

Rangers mercurial captain is a real force on the right-hand side and a vital part of how Rangers play. He is also one of the club’s top players and Rangers will struggle to replace him if he goes.
Jon Flanagan might be a sturdy option, and desperate for a shot at right back, but Tavernier is classy, direct and lethal. He’s been almost ever-present this year, playing 37 times and missing only one match. That was a routine victory over Championship side Ayr United in the league cup.

James Tavernier  vital to the balance of this Rangers side

Tav has nine goals and 14 assists this season. The marauding right back and Rangers captain is one of the most important attacking outlets at Ibrox. He also showed his defensive class against Celtic last month.
Such is his value to the side Rangers fans are demanding the club hold out for more cash if he is to go. It seems a fee of £7m will not be enough to appease the Rangers faithful. Some want at least twice that amount.

The Yorkshireman, 27, signed for Rangers back in 2015 and is now in his fourth season with the club. He has developed massively since he’s been at Ibrox and is one of the club’s biggest assets.
James Tavernier has made over 177 appearances for the Gers, scoring close to 35 goals and generating 53 assists from right back.
Rangers would be made considerably weaker by his departure.
