Rangers bound midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh has spoken out about his upcoming move to Ibrox [Daily Record].
Ofoborh’s pre-contract agreement with the Gers was announced on Tuesday, with his four-year deal kicking in in the summer.
The 21-year-old recently rejoined Wycombe Wanderers on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season and he’s already turned out twice for the Chairboys in the Championship.
Several months of first-team football await him before his transfer but he’s already got one eye on what he sees as very exciting future in Glasgow.
“I’m buzzing about the move,” said Oforborh [Daily Record]. “It’s still a bit surreal to me that I’m actually joining a club like Rangers.”
“I just can’t wait to get up there, get started and do what I need to do. I know all about Rangers. I grew up watching any game of football I could get my hands on. I remember watching the Old Firm matches.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of people about the fans up there [in Scotland] not just in the Old Firm game but in general. It’s a sell-out crowd and to play in front of 50,000 supporters will be really incredible for me.”
Oforborh is clearly over the moon to have sealed a move to Rangers and these comments will no doubt be well received by the fan base.
The Nigeria youth international is still relatively inexperienced in senior football and he’s not used to playing in front of big crowds, with Ibrox holding around five times as many fans as both Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium and Wycombe’s Adams Park.
Yet, he doesn’t seem daunted by the prospect and supporters will hope that he can bring energy and power to the Gers midfield once his switch has been completed.
Wycombe supporters were certainly impressed by his efforts on loan there last season and his move to Ibrox may spell trouble for a 28-year-old who’s already struggling for game time.
