Rangers boss timeline explained after Michael Beale exit

Rangers needed to get the last managerial appointment right and failed which makes the next one even more important, especially with no director of football in place.

One of Ross Wilson’s key roles would have been to have a list of future managerial options and yet that list doesn’t seem to have extended beyond Michael Beale.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was totally different in style to Steven Gerrard but made sense, Michael Beale was a hopeful and romantic punt, it’s anyone’s guess who is next but, according to Heart and Hand, there will be no rush to make an appointment.

Rangers taking time to replace Michael Beale

Writing on X, David Edgar used the podcast’s official account to reveal:

“Word from the club is that they will take their time over the permanent appointment.

“Two fixtures and then obviously there’s the international break.”

Hopefully “time” isn’t months or as long as it has taken to find another sporting director.

Despite using a recruitment agency, we appear to be no further down the line.

If that position had been filled before the summer, some of the players who were brought in might have been vetoed.

They would also now have a prospective list of names to present to the board.

Aris Limassol and St Mirren away are the games that Steven Davis will take charge of and he will be hoping that he can hand over the reins with us sitting higher up the league and with two wins from two in the Europa League.

Rangers need to make the right appointment but the next candidate should already have been contacted and been offered the job – Michael Beale’s demise wasn’t a surprise to anyone.
