Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has rejected claims that Ibrox captain James Tavernier is carrying an injury.

The Dutch coach was speaking with the club’s skipper seemingly out of form and not quite proving himself as mobile as in previous campaigns so far this season.

Rumours spread in the background that the Ibrox right-back was carrying a knock and was looking to get to the winter and World Cup break in order for it to properly heal.

This comes after Giovanni van Bronckhorst claimed James Tavernier was carrying an injury following the 4-0 demolition away at Celtic Park earlier in the season.

This then intensified over the weekend as footage of the Rangers captain going through a warm-up appeared to show him struggling and wincing in pain.

Rangers captain James Tavernier is not carrying an injury

Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has moved quickly to dispel these rumours as the Rangers manager insists his captain is fit amid fears surrounding an injury.

Even with the Gers captain the club is stretched very thin through injury and rotation and Rangers boss van Bronckhorst challenged his side to rise to the League Cup occasion against Dundee.

“Tavernier is fit, I heard some stories but he is fine,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“We will rotate the squad tomorrow, we need to find a balance in the load for the players with a small squad at the moment with injuries. We need to be smart. Even though it’s a smaller squad, we have players that can come in to start.

“I want to win in every competition, it is not always easy but every match it is expected as a manager and player of Rangers to win. This is a cup we haven’t won in recent years so is important we show the desire to win.

“There is always pressure at Rangers to win. Our motivation is to win that trophy, that is all we need. It’s the best moment you can have in football. I have had many as a player and a manager, it is all the motivation we need.”

Even if James Tavernier is not carrying an injury, does he make our Rangers team to face Dundee?
