Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has assured supporters the club will “do what we need to do” to play their UEFA Europa League ties as travel restrictions are implemented around Europe.

Gerrard was speaking as former side and Premier League champions Liverpool were told they cannot travel to Germany from the UK to play their Europa League qualifier against RB Leipzig.

Speaking ahead of the club’s trip to Ross County, Gerrard was clear that Rangers will jump through whatever hoops required to play their match with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.

“At the moment I expect them to go ahead as planned, but that is not to say there are not conversations in the background that I am not aware of,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“I am sure Andrew Dickson and Stewart Robertson are having those conversations with UEFA and the other authorities involved and we will do what we need to do to get the games played and do whatever we are told to do.

“Where I sit right now, I am expecting both legs to go ahead as planned over in Belgium and at Ibrox and I am sure we will have plenty of time to discuss those games when they come about. My focus right now is on Hamilton.”

In order to overcome the ongoing travel restrictions around Europe UEFA have released a range of new protocols to ensure matches can be played this season.
