Steven Gerrard has raved about Rangers pre-contract signing Fashion Sakala and has suggested that he could make a huge impact at Ibrox next season [Rangers TV].

The Gers announced the capture of the 24-year-old attacker last week and he will see out the remainder of the Jupiler Pro League campaign with KV Oostende before joining up with the Gers for pre-season.

Sakala had been linked with the club for some time prior to the move and speaking during a press conference on Tuesday morning, Gerrard made it clear that he’s looking forward to working with the Zambia international, who’s scored 14 goals in all competitions this season.

“Fashion Sakala is coming in after a productive season in Belgium,” he said [RangersTV]. “He will make us a lot quicker, a lot more dynamic and gives the squad a lot more pace in the forward areas, so I’m really excited to work with him.”

“There’s potential there on a big scale.”

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

These are pretty glowing comments from the manager and he clearly feels that Sakala is capable of making a transformational impact on his already-productive foward line.

With wingers Jordan Jones and Brandon Barker out on loan, pace is one thing the Gers boss doesn’t currently have a lot of at his disposal, with Ryan Kent and Scott Wright the only genuine speedsters in the first-team squad.

The signing of Sakala is intended to change that, though, and it’ll be interesting to see whether or not he can hit the ground running at Ibrox next season.
