Rangers boss Michael Beale has provided an injury update on four first team Ibrox stars ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The Gers boss has been speaking ahead of what is a season-defining clash for Rangers, whose only chance of silverware comes in the shape of the famous old Hampden trophy.

By retaining the Scottish Cup, Rangers will also land a key psychological blow on Celtic heading into next season and prove that there are shoots of domestic recovery under ex-QPR boss Beale.

With Celtic also closing in on a fifth domestic treble in seven seasons, anything but victory will see Rangers fans take a scorched earth approach to a squad who’re fast transforming from Europa League heroes to Premiership zeroes.

The pressure is on and heading into the match Rangers boss Michael Beale had claimed that influential first-team stars Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent would be fit to face Celtic.

But ahead of the game, the Rangers manager was decidedly more coy as he provided an injury update ahead of the Hampden clash with Scott Wright and Alex Lowry also mentioned.

“It’s a huge game we know that, it’s been a rough ride this season for the fans,” said Michael Beale.

“We need to bring the best of ourselves, games have been won and lost on mistakes – the penalty boxes will be decisive and we need to eradicate one or two errors.

“It will be a fantastic atmosphere that showcases Scottish football, a lot of noise and colour.

“Goldson, Wright, Kent and Lowry all trained. We just need to see how they react now and assess after returning today to training.

“Centre-back position has been very unstable throughout the season with injuries. Connor (Goldson) is a big character for our team and always nice to have him back. Stability in key positions is key.

“It is a big opportunity as a player, this weekend is a big opportunity to reach a final. That will to win, that is what you sign up for coming here. We want to go and win the cup. We have to keep moving forward as a club.

“We are much clearer in the decisions we have to make this summer, we know the areas we need to improve and recruit. I think the progress has been made, there is a lot of harmony behind the scenes and I am really positive about the future.”
