Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has raved about the ‘immense’ performances of Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara against St Mirren, with both players set to play key roles against Celtic this weekend [RangersTV].

Aribo and Kamara both played the full 90 minutes of Wednesday’s 2-0 win and strutted their stuff in Paisley.

Finland international Kamara has been in superb form all season and is reportedly being monitored by a number of big clubs, while Nigeria star Aribo is getting back to his best after struggles with injury and illness.

“I thought Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara were immense – they were really good,” said Gerrard after the midweek win [RangersTV].

Injuries to Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield mean both midfielders are all but guaranteed to start again on Saturday afternoon for what is a potentially season-defining Old Firm.

Kamara will have a crucial role to play on the ball in the middle of the park, while he will also need to provide cover for marauding left-back Borna Barisic when the Gers lose possession.

Meanwhile, Aribo will need to show tenacity on the right of the midfield three. He offers more in attack than Kamara and his silky dribbling skills and vision may prove key to unlocking the Celtic defence.

Both players have been on the winning side in the past on derby day in Glasgow and if they are again this weekend, the Gers will stretch their already sizeable lead at the top of the table to a commanding 19 points.
