Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has admitted that he may be without a first-team regular for the visit of Rangers, as quoted by the Evening Times.
First choice goalkeeper, Mark Gillespie, was forced off with an injury in the 3-1 defeat at Aberdeen in midweek.
He was making his first appearance for ‘Well and is in line to start against the Gers on Sunday.
“We’re hopeful that Mark is fit but I’ve got confidence in Rohan,” said Robinson, as quoted by the Evening Times.
“He’s had game time out on loan and that’s what we do at this football club – we give young players chances so he might get a chance in a big game.”
“It’s sink or swim, isn’t it?” But I think he’ll handle it no problem…We’re not frightened to give them [young players] the opportunity.”
Rangers are without their main marksman, Alfredo Morelos, through suspension.
However, Jermain Defoe is sure to be licking his lips at this news.
Ferguson has over 60 league appearances for Aidriedonians under his belt.
However, he’s an SPL novice and facing Rangers is a different proposition altogether. In front of the Sky Sports cameras, it would be a big occasion to make your first start and there will be nerves there.
Therefore, Gerrard’s men should certainly look to test out the newcomer in the early stages, if he’s given the nod.
