Bright Osayi-Samuel has admitted that ‘my ambition is to play in the Premier League’ as Rangers reportedly face competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
It is two-and-a-half years now since Bright Osayi-Samuel scored the goal which really launched him as one of the brightest talents in the English Football League; picking up the ball wide on the right during QPR’s 3-2 victory over Rotherham United and running almost the entire half of the opposition’s half before hammering home.
Goals of any kind have been in short supply for Osayi-Samuel in Turkey; just two since joining Fenerbahce back in 2021.
The 25-year-old Nigeria international has blossomed into a more well-rounded performer in Istanbul, however, something reflected in reports linking the former Queens Park Rangers talisman with top-flight duo Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur (Fanatik).

According to Sporx, there is also interest from an ambitious Rangers outfit hoping to take advantage of Celtic’s post-Ange Postecoglou period of transition. But while Champions League football is on offer at Ibrox, the £6 million-rated Osayi-Samuel is at pains to point out that his goal – at this stage in his career – remains the Premier League instead.
“The plan for me right now is just to wait and see,” Osayi-Samuel tells Football Live.
“Everyone in Turkey knows that my ambition is to play in the Premier League one day. And if it’s right this summer, then hopefully I will get the right club.
“But, that’s down to my agent and my father who are discussing with the clubs, that’s all I can say for now.”
Osayi-Samuel has thrived as a rampaging right-back in Turkey but made his name in a more advanced role at QPR. Rangers arguably still do not have a right-sided attacker befitting a team with title ambitions; Fashion Sakala inconsistent, Ianis Hagi better in the middle and Scott Wright seemingly heading out the door.
New Tottenham boss Postecoglou – a treble winner with Celtic last term – likes direct, tricky wingers who prefer to hug the touchline and create width. Osayi-Samuel, then, could fit in well at Spurs. Aston Villa, meanwhile, need a replacement for the departing Ashley Young.
