Rangers have been backed by finance expert Ken Patrullo to spend big in January as the club seemingly back manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Gers boss is under heavy pressure heading into the World Cup break after a disastrous Champions League campaign and falling nine points behind Celtic in the title race.
But speaking to the Scottish Daily Express, Rangers have been backed to spend big to close the gap with their Old Firm rivals by Ken Patrullo, who is a partner at corporate firm Begbies Traynor.
“I can’t see why Rangers can’t go out and spend big in January whether there is a new man in charge or Gio van Bronckhorst is still there,” said Ken Patrullo.
“Since then they have sold Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey which looks like bringing in over £30million and they will earn around £25million for getting into the group stage of the Champions League.
“So there would appear to me that the money is there to go and strengthen the squad.”

The comments from Ken Patrullo come as Rangers also appear to back manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst amid mounting pressure in the support.
Dropped points to Livingston, St Mirren and St Johnstone appear to have crippled the club’s season with many fans believing the Scottish Premiership is out of sight.
But amid a run of major injuries in the Ibrox squad, Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan – who broke the Gio to Rangers story – claims that the Gers boss is expecting to still be in charge after the World Cup.
“I think he’s counting on the fact that he will be there once the World Cup is over,” said Van der Kraan [Sky Sports].
“I think he’s gone on holiday at the moment. He is aware there is some unrest amongst the fans.
“Rangers is a massive club in Scotland and have a reputation in Europe, you can see that when they went to the Europa League final.
“They’ve played against all the big teams [in the Champions League] with a very limited squad and that squad was not built for the Champions League, Scottish League and a cup etc.
“Ten injuries at the moment, he knows he has to work hard with this team. I think he’s got the backing of the board and he’s counting on the backing of the board because they have not invested a lot and if you look at the amount of injuries they’ve had, it would be very unfair to sack him.”
Whilst Ken Patrullo is expecting Rangers investment this January, one Ibrox star who left this summer has been turning heads.
