The futures of Rangers stars Ianis Hagi and Alex Lowry remain the topic of substantial debate.

Both advanced playmakers are currently training with the Rangers B team as Philippe Clement tries to free up space in his squad.

Now, the two have once again been selected for B team duties with Ianis Hagi and Alex Lowry both starting this afternoon’s clash with Blackburn Rovers.

There is also a place for Clinton Nsiala in the line-up as he continues to build his rhythm at Ibrox following a summer switch from AC Milan.

But there is no place for one talented young striker that many are expecting to make a more permanent step up to the Rangers first-team this season.

Rangers B team to face Blackburn

The Rangers B team are set to face off against a Blackburn Rovers XI at the Blackburn Training Centre as the club’s youngsters and squad players look to build fitness this summer.

Alongside the inclusion of Hagi, Lowry and Nsiala in the Rangers second string’s starting XI, there is also a place for academy right-back Adam Devine.

The inclusion of Romanian international Ianis Hagi in the team – one week on from when the £3m Rangers star scored a hat-trick v Derby County – is the most headline grabbing.

Hagi knows that he has no future at Rangers but is yet to negotiate a suitable switch out of Ibrox this summer.

The high-earning Euro 2024 star has been strongly linked to Fiorentina with reports suggesting Rangers could let Hagi leave on a free to get him off the wage bill.

These were backed up by suggestions from Philippe Clement that someone at Rangers could be moved on for nothing.

The Rangers manager has also been clear that the club cannot move for their remaining summer targets until those propping up the squad move on.

Whilst Clement is clear that he ‘can’t hold a gun’ to the head of those who have no futures at Ibrox, Ianis Hagi, Alex Lowry and Adam Devine are amongst those reported to be in that number.

There is also no place for Todd Cantwell, who continues to train with the Rangers B team after telling Philippe Clement he wants to leave Ibrox.

No Lovelace lost for Rangers

Rangers fans will also note the absence of Zak Lovelace for this Monday afternoon B team clash v Blackburn Rovers.

The young English striker has made a handful of appearances for the Rangers first-team but suffered a serious injury against St Mirren in October last season.

The 18-year-old hitman was handed an opportunity by interim coach Steven Davis but was forced off early on in the game.

Another serious injury whilst working his way back up to fitness earlier this year then effectively ended what was supposed to a breakthrough season for the talented forward.

Having made a brief and impressive appearance in a 3-2 victory over Clyde last week, there were hopes the striker was working is way back towards the first-team.

Rangers fans will hope Lovelace’s absence is just about managing his minutes and return to action and it isn’t another injury for the ex-Millwall striker.
