On-fire striker Tony Weston scored again but Rangers B were shocked by 10-man East Kilbride in the Lowland League on Saturday.
David McCallum named a strong starting XI for the fixture at K-Park, with Leon King and Kyle McClelland pairing up in defence and Juan Alegria leading the line.
The Young Gers were on the front foot from the off, with both Alex Lowry and Charlie McCann going close early on.
In the 21st minute, the opening goal did arrive, with the prolific Tony Weston finishing well after being picked out in the box by left-back Robbie Fraser.
It was the 18-year-old forward’s 16th league goal of the season as his impressive form continues.
Weston had another couple of sightings at goal in what remained of the first half but wasn’t able to convert and the visitors took a 1-0 lead into the interval.
When East Kilbride went down to ten men just four minutes into the second half, it looked likely that the B team would cruise to victory.
However, the hosts rallied and drew level soon after the hour mark through McLaughlin before former Partick Thistle and Livingston player Chris Erskine completed a shock turnaround.
The Young Gers piled on the pressure in the closing stages but were unable to find an equaliser and slipped to a surprise defeat.
