As Rangers ran out 2-0 winners after a drab affair against Ross County at Ibrox, Gers fans were rocked by a second-half injury knock to a key player.
Form Ibrox left-back Borna Barisic went down in the second-half following a robust challenge which he was actually carrying out on a Ross County player.
Barisic was visibly in considerable amounts of pain and was eventually subbed off for Ibrox youngster Calvin Bassey with Rangers fans facing a nervous wait to find out the extent of the injury.
The Croatian international is one of the first names on the Ibrox team sheet and Steven Gerrard will be well aware of the impact his extended absence could have on the squad.
However Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister provided a positive injury update concerning the player after the match.
McAllister also provided an update for Connor Goldson’s injury situation after the powerful centre-half appeared to land awkwardly on his standing leg.
“It’s just a blow, it was just below his shinpad. It’s nothing serious. It’s some studs mark below his shin pads,” said McAllister [Daily Record].
“Connor was feeling a wee bit of cramp, we don’t think that’s a problem either.
“Everyone has come through okay and now we’re hoping everyone goes away on international duty and comes back healthy.”
Rangers have been unlucky with injuries so fae this season and are already without Kemar Roofe (calf), Joe Aribo (ankle) and Cedric Itten (knee).
Niko Katic (knee) remains a long term absentee as he tries to recover from rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
