The official Rangers Twitter account appeared to troll a salty Celtic statement about the upcoming Old Firm in hilarious fashion as they pointed fans to a Champions party pack.
The Ibrox side have certainly upset their friends to the east who released a statement regarding preparations for the upcoming Old Firm match on 21st March.
In it, Celtic can’t even bring themselves to mention Rangers – hilariously salty I know – and also take a dig at the Ibrox club’s fans for partying in George Square.
“The Scottish Government has already made clear to Celtic that it does not in any way associate the scenes last weekend with Celtic or our supporters,” they assure supporters[Celtic].
Well done Columbo.
They then go on to claim they’ve been consistent with their messaging regarding fan gatherings – in another thinly-veiled dig at Rangers – but fail to acknowledge the riots outside their stadium in November.
“The Club has been clear in our messaging to our supporters of the importance of staying at home in line with applicable guidance throughout the pandemic,” continues the statement.
“We will re-emphasise that message for this fixture as we have done during the season and we are sure that our supporters will work with the Club while the restrictions remain in place.”
It’s all getting very bitter and upset over at Parkhead as they follow up from their now infamous “we’re not half of anything tweet” with yet more marketing aimed at the red-faced 40+ green samba wearing there is no Old Firm demographic.
This is all despite the fact they renewed the Old Firm trademark only days before.
Rangers – clearly nonplussed by the saltiness of the entire thing and showing a marketing prowess the archetypal Celtic dah over in the eastend could only dream of – would then release a pretty timely tweet to troll their rivals.
Get your party packs Bears – they can moan all they want, but this year’s celebrations are only just getting started.
Rangers are the Champions and whilst the celebrations might’ve been predictable to everyone but the Scottish Government, that hasn’t stopped chairman Douglas Park fighting the club’s corner from Holyrood’s ire.
