Rangers commercial director James Bisgrove says he is ‘delighted’ after the club extended an important partnership with Carrick Packaging [Rangers.co.uk].
The club confirmed the year-long extension with an announcement on Thursday evening, with the Glasgow-based company continuing as the main sponsors of the Rangers Academy and ‘B’ teams.
Carrick Packaging entered into an ‘exciting’ partnership with the Gers in July 2019 and the renewal of the deal will see their logo continue to adorn the playing shirts of all the club’s youth and development teams.
“Carrick Packaging have already been an instrumental partner supporting the rapid progress of the Rangers Academy and now Rangers ‘B’ team,” James Bisgrove, Rangers’ Director of Commercial and Marketing, told the club’s website.
“John Jordan and everyone at Carrick are leaders in their industry and are well respected right across Europe, as a family-run business with its headquarters in Glasgow, supplying customers right across the world. We are delighted to have renewed our partnership with a Glasgow-based business that enjoys a growing international footprint.
“Our innovative and progressive ideas on how the best young players are developed in Scotland to reach the highest levels in Europe are supported by Carrick Packaging, which provides a strong platform for this partnership to continue to flourish.”

Rangers’ Head of Academy, Craig Mulholland, also threw his weight behind the partnership. He took the opportunity to thank the sponsors for their “ongoing support and personal commitment to our ambitious project” [Rangers.co.uk].
As well as having their logo on youth team strips, Carrick Packaging signs will continue to be displayed at Ibrox.
Rangers announce Academy sponsorship extension – Verdict
It’s good news that the club have been able to secure another lucrative sponsorship deal for the Academy, particularly during the uncertain economic situation caused by the global health crisis.
Rangers’ youth teams have been out of action since March, with the many of the club’s young players forced to train at home for months.
Some of the brightest talents in the Academy have recently returned to Auchenhowie to work with the first team, though, and the Gers are no doubt hoping to bring many more players back over the coming weeks and months.
Sizeable funding has been poured into the youth setup in recent seasons both from sponsorship deals such as this one and from the Rangers Youth Development Company.
Fans are becoming frustrated at the lack of homegrown players in the first team, though, and the pressure is on to produce results over the next few seasons.
