Rangers clash with Aberdeen this weekend will be more significant than most, as the club begin the 150th-anniversary celebrations early with a bumper weekend filled full of activities and entertainment.

The club will invite a selection of season ticket holders and MyGers members to a special “Moonlighters” evening event tonight and then the build-up to the vital tie against the Dons will feature a host of entertainment and special activities throughout the stadium.

Former Rangers striker Michael Mols will be in attendance as well as singer Callum Beattie, with current women’s team players Sam Kerr and Nicola Docherty also taking part.

The Ibrox side will also wear a special “Gallant Pioneers” all-white kit to face Aberdeen, with Castore releasing a unique Pro edition of the kit which will be available in a luxury gift box.

It’s fair to say that the club is going all out in order to celebrate this monumental anniversary, there will even be live broadcasts to watch if you can’t attend in person with a special pre-match show and other anniversary content spread out over the course of the month.

This arguably piles even more pressure on the side to secure all three points in what has been a tough run domestically since the winter break.

The atmosphere should be extra special tomorrow, although if the Gers concede or start off slowly, then it could turn very quickly.

Hopefully, the occasion can give the players a much-needed boost and following the turgid performance against St Johnstone in midweek, a good showing is well overdue.

We all know these are the type of matches Aberdeen thrives in, with the two other league matches against the side ending in stalemates this season, another cup final beckons for the Dons.

The match starts at 3 pm tomorrow and a solid Ibrox performance and three points are the absolute minimum requirement.

In other news, former Rangers chairman Dave King has supported the view of the Rangers fans following the announcement of the clubs participation in the Sydney Super Cup alongside Celtic.
