Rangers will be paying very close attention to Angus Gunn as the Norwich City ace prepares for a Scotland debut.

The Gers are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Allan McGregor is 41 now and Rangers need to find their goalkeeper of the future.

The Sun report that Norwich stopper Gunn is a prime name on the Rangers wish list.

That may be a little tricky now Gunn has nailed down a spot as Norwich’s first-choice keeper, but Rangers are keen.

What’s interesting is that Gunn has now committed his international future to Scotland, switching over from England.

The 27-year-old is now in line for a first Scotland cap having been called up against Cyprus and Spain.

Rangers may well hope that Gunn fancies heading to Scotland for his club future, but that decision will have to wait a few weeks yet.

Steve Clarke praises Rangers target Angus Gunn

Gunn now appears to be the favourite to become Scotland’s next first-choice goalkeeper for years to come.

That era could start in the coming days and boss Steve Clarke has hailed Scotland’s new stopper.

Clarke has spoken to the Daily Record about Gunn as a senior international debut looms.

Clarke noted that his familiarity with Scotland duo Grant Hanley and Kenny McLean is a factor in terms of bedding into the squad.

The Scotland boss added that Gunn is playing with real confidence right now and is used to Scotland’s style of play.

Clarke also feels that Gunn ‘must be doing something right’ because is now keeping Tim Krul out of the Norwich side.

“Well he’s playing in a side with two other internationals [Grant Hanley and Kenny McLean] that we know well,” said Clarke. “We’ve watched him quite a bit. He’s in a good side, a side that tries to play the way we try to play, which is good. He is playing with confidence, he believes in his ability and we believe in him.

“Listen, he is keeping out a good goalkeeper in Tim Krul. I know all about Tim, so he’s keeping out a Holland international, and a friend of mine, so he must be doing something right down there. Steve and Woodsy will have a conversation about goalkeepers, but Steve will make the right decision on who will be the No.1 choice by the end of the week,” he added.

Rangers will surely be watching Gunn over this international break and hope for Ryan Jack to have a word or two in his ear about a move to Ibrox.
