Rangers target Angus Gunn has decided to commit his international future to Scotland amid rumours linking him with a move to Ibrox.

Norwich City stopper Gunn was born in England but is the son of former Scotland goalkeeper Bryan Gunn.

The 27-year-old looked destined to become an England international at one stage.

A regular from Under-16 all the way to Under-21 level, Gunn was backed for a huge future with the Three Lions.

That just hasn’t happened though with Gunn unable to really kick on after his initial promise at Manchester City.

Gunn has now told PinkUn that he has decided to switch his international allegiance to play for Scotland moving forward.

Gunn – linked with Rangers of late – is excited to be turning out for Scotland and is hoping to be included in Steve Clarke’s upcoming squad.

Gunn has probably picked a good time to switch his allegiance.

The era of Allan McGregor, Craig Gordon and David Marshall is coming to an end and there isn’t a standout candidate to become number one.

Liam Kelly, Zander Clark and Robby McCrorie can stake a claim but Gunn may now believe he can become first choice.

The news will be of interest to Rangers, who are interested in snapping up Gunn this summer.

The Scottish Sun reported in February that Rangers are looking to bring Gunn to Ibrox at the end of the season.

Rangers need to find their heir for McGregor and the Gers seem to fancy Gunn for that role.

Heading to Scotland and really embedding himself in Scottish football, going up against and playing with some players from the Scotland setup may well appeal to Gunn.

Rangers have to hope that this decision makes Scottish football all the more appealing to Gunn and Gers recruitment staff will have noted this decision with real interest.
