Rangers and Leicester City have shown an interest in 18-year-old Rosenborg BK striker Emanuel Kulego, according to a Norwegian report.

Nettavisen namecheck both Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester side and Steven Gerrard’s Rangers as being interested in the young Norwegian forward despite him never playing for the Rosenborg top team.

According to the report, the striker has impressed at both U16 and U19 level in Norway and a debut with the top team is “long overdue”.

Signed from Malmo as a 13-year-old, Kulego has chosen to represent Norway at youth level and is fully focused on life in Trondheim despite the interest.

“It’s fun and shows that I have done something good, but I signed a new contract with Rosenborg this summer and will break through here,” Kulego told Nettavisen.

“I want to make my debut in the Eliteserien, that is my goal.

“(I know) That some clubs are interested, but nothing more than that. I do not want to comment so much more than that other than that I have heard a little bit.

“Right now, I would like to have the opportunity here at home as fast as possible, but I’m not impatient and everything has its time.

“When Rosenborg feel I’m ready then I’m ready. Then we’ll see what happens.”

The striker has featured in the PostNord-ligaen (third division in Norway) this season, scoring one goal in seven appearances for Rosenborg 2.
