Rangers advertise for senior role – Ibrox cult hero could be moving on

Rangers have advertised for a new ‘head of kit’ reporting to director of football Mark Allen – and it could mean the end of Ibrox cult hero Jimmy Bell.
The Gers have advertised the role with SportScotland, and it looks as though the long-serving kitman could be heading off to pastures new, cutting back on his duties or even heading for retirement.

It could also be, however, that the new position is above Bell, who has been employed by the club longer than almost anyone after being appointed by Graeme Souness.
Bell’s long tenure at Ibrox has seen him gain a cult following with some Rangers fans with the kitman’s short temper a constant source of entertainment.
Given how long the Ibrox mainstay has been with the club, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him start to reduce his duties as he heads towards retirement age.

Hopefully, if Jimmy does indeed end his time with Rangers soon then he is suitably recognised by the club.
If he is sticking around, then good luck to whoever is appointed to work over him as the club’s head of kit and dealing with one of Ibrox’s longest-serving – and shortest-tempered – employees.
