Rangers winger Tom Lawrence has admitted that people around him were surprised when he picked a move to Ibrox in 2022.
One of the real frustrations from last season was the lack of playing time for Tom Lawrence.
The Gers pounced to sign Lawrence on a free transfer as his Derby County contract came to an end.
Lawrence’s final season with the Rams saw him rack up 11 goals and five assists, tempting Rangers into a move.
Formerly of Manchester United, Lawrence was a bargain signing on a free transfer but his first season was one of frustration.
Lawrence managed three goals and two assists in nine games before suffering an Achilles injury which kept him out for the season.

The Welshman is now back in action and working his way up to full fitness again.
Lawrence has played three times this season and managed a first start of the campaign against St. Johnstone at the weekend.
The hope is that Lawrence can now kick on and ultimately avoid more injury problems after such a difficult 12 months.
Lawrence is in contention to play against Real Betis tonight and he will be desperate to get his Rangers career off the ground once and for all.
Lawrence reflects on Rangers transfer
The ex-Leicester City man has now spoken to The Scotsman about leaving Derby and English football for a move to Ibrox.
Lawrence claims that some people were questioning his move to Rangers, seemingly not understanding why he chose Glasgow as his next destination.
Lawrence believes that those people now understand it perfectly as Rangers are such a huge club.
The attacking midfielder – who can also play in from the left flank – added that Ibrox is simply ‘incredible’, and that he was ‘absolutely gobsmacked’ when he first arrived for talks with Rangers, making his decision there and then.
“European football was a big part of my decision to come here in the first place,” said Lawrence. “Also, when you come up from England you get the feeling it’s like no other club. Ibrox is incredible. I don’t think it gets the justice it deserves sometimes, especially from people in England. When I came here I was absolutely gobsmacked, I just wanted to sign straight away.”
“A lot of people questioned it, but that didn’t really affect me because I have a strong personality. After a while they figure for themselves why I signed here and that speaks for itself. Rangers are the club I wanted to play for. We have a great run of four home games coming up and we need four big performances. Let’s hear Ibrox bouncing again,” he added.
