Pundit thinks Danilo is becoming Clement’s ‘main man’ at Rangers

Pundit Marvin Bartley believes that Philippe Clement now has his ‘main man’ in the Rangers attack in Danilo.

Rangers beat Hearts 3-1 on Sunday afternoon, advancing into the final of the Viaplay Cup in the process.

James Tavernier scored either side of a Scott Wright goal, handing Rangers a final meeting with Aberdeen in December.

That’s a major boost for Philippe Clement, who could soon have his first piece of silverware as Rangers boss.

Danilo now Philippe Clement’s ‘main man’ at Rangers

Clement went with Danilo as his striker once again as the Brazilian starts to really gather momentum at Ibrox.

The summer signing from Feyenoord had a rather stunted opening at Rangers having suffered a facial injury against St Johnstone in September.

Danilo is now starting to show real form for Rangers and was a threat against Hearts on Sunday.

Danilo won the penalty for Rangers’ opener before setting up Wright for number two.

Pundit and Queen of the South boss Marvin Bartley now believes that Danilo has already become the ‘main man’ for Clement in attack.

Cyriel Dessers is in the mix too but Bartley – speaking to Viaplay – thinks Danilo is starting to pull away from the Nigerian, praising his ‘brilliant’ all-round game whilst backing him to score plenty of goals.

“For me, he’s now the main man, the number nine so to speak, for Rangers,” said Bartley. “I think, for the first few weeks of the season, people were saying ‘Dessers or Danilo, we’re not sure who’s really going to be that top striker for them’. I think we can see it now. His all-round game is brilliant, I think he offers something different for Rangers up front and I think the more he plays and gets used to the league, the more goals he’ll score,” he added.

Danilo has the quality to shine for Rangers

Rangers showed real faith in Danilo over the summer, paying around £6million to bring him to Ibrox from Feyenoord.

Danilo hit 14 goals in all competitions, helping Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title and reach the Europa League semi-finals.

That proves Danilo’s quality and we are now really starting to see it in a Rangers shirt as he builds his fitness backup.

Dessers hasn’t enjoyed the best start at Rangers and Danilo does appear to be pushing himself into the role as Clement’s first choice – and few fans would disagree with that stance right now.
