Outspoken pundit Keith Jackson has claimed that Dave King will have “expected more” of Steven Gerrard in his latest column.
Writing with The Daily Record, Jackson believes that Gerrard’s domestic record this season should be called into question. He suspects it is already being done so by the Rangers Chairman.
In fact, for much of Jackson’s column, he openly berates the Scouser. It’s a damning verdict, but would we have expected any less?

Kieth Jackson writes:
“For the Rangers boss, what had been shaping up as a reasonably respectable first season is now threatening to become a rather ruinous one where his fledgling managerial reputation is concerned.
“These are dangerous times indeed for Gerrard who seems a little lost for answers as his debut season unravels before his eyes.
“When Dave King took such an expensive roll of the dice on him last summer he would have been expecting a whole lot more than a measly couple of points in return.”
The pundit would then go on to speak about Gerrard “intimidating” his players. It’s a pretty scathing column by Jackson, but Rangers have given him the platform with poor results.

For the most part, those calling for Gerrard’s head need a reality check. He isn’t without criticism but I highly doubt Dave King has Gerrard’s number up. Would he have expected more? I think we all did, especially in the cup competitions.
Season two will be the real judge of Gerrard’s mettle and competency as a coach. Jackson is just turning the screw and turning the pressure up on the Rangers Manager going into it, as a pundit would do.
But at least he’s not gunning for Alfredo Morelos this time.
